News which became public this week that Apple iPhones, iPads and yes, Macs are suffering from the same processor security flaw that has been known to affect other smartphones and computers will disappoint its customers as well as the diehard brand supporters and advocates.

Although the company has issued a first set of fixes, it has stressed that there are no known exploits that will impact users.

The California-based company confirmed on Thursday that its Mac computers and iOS devices are all affected by the same chip security flaws known as Meltdown and Spectre, attacks that exploit a security flaw affecting almost every device with a processor discovered by Google.  Those exploits could then be used to reveal sensitive personal information such as login information and passwords including photos.

“All Mac systems and iOS devices are affected but there are no known exploits impacting customers at this time,” the computer said in a blog post in its first public comment on the issue.

The company tried to calm down fears by indicating that it had already issued patches in recent software updates in the latest version of its iOs, MacOs and tvOs operating systems.

Apples says its recent software updates for iPhones, iPads, Mac laptops and desktop computers, iPod touches and the Apple TV set-top box tackles one of the two flaws known as Meltdown.  The company indicates that the fixes do not impact the overall performance of its devices, something that may give some comfort to its customers and brand users.

Amidst concerns that the prescribed fixes could slow down devices, the company assured its users that steps taken to address the Meltdown issue haven’t dented performance of its devices so far.

Apple remained silent for more than a day about the fate of the hundreds of millions of users of its iPhones and iPads. Ben Johnson, co-founder and chief strategist for cyber security firm Carbon Black, said the delay in updating customers about whether Apple’s devices are at risk could affect Apple’s drive to get more business customers to adopt its hardware.
