It has not been a Merry Christmas as usual for millions of Zimbabweans at home and in the Diaspora who are currently under the rule of an illegitimate military dictatorship masquerading as a democratic government.

There was nothing to celebrate this year.  What is evident is regret after a realization that they were duped by the Mnangagwa-Chiwenga cabal into supporting a military coup disguised as an organic, grassroots movement by the people for the sole purpose of usurpation of power.

The soft coup which those in Zimbabwe unknowingly supported after being politically-manipulated, initially led to the ouster and unconstitutional removal from office of 93-year old Robert Gabriel Mugabe, the legitimate President of Zimbabwe and Commander-In-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces.

Retired Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) General Constantino Chiwenga (L) shakes the hand of the man he ousted from power, President Robert Mugabe.

While the Usurper-in-Chief Emmerson Mnangagwa together with his ally and newly-minted Vice Usurper, the master coup-plotter and recently retired Zimbabwe Defence Forces General Constantino Chiwenga celebrate the assumed success of their plot, Zimbabweans are not.   In fact, the celebration may turn out to be short-lived as the incumbent illegitimate government has no legs to stand on in view of the manner by which it came about.

If anything, Zimbabweans of all stripes should celebrate this year’s Christmas and the coming New Year with at least a sliver of hope knowing that the current clique masquerading as the government is weak than it actually wants to portray.  The imposed, illegitimate military dictatorship has no legs to stand on but on shifty political quicksand.

Emmerson Mnangagwa (C) and Retired Zimbabwe Defence Forces General Constantino Chiwenga lead an illegitimate government in Zimbabwe.

Furthermore, the Mnangagwa-Chiwenga cabal violated two Constitutions  – the Constitution of Zimbabwe and ZANU (PF) Constitution – as pointed out by then President Robert Mugabe during his last speech and address to the nation.   The violations automatically delegitimize any claim(s) to the presidium or governance of the country.

For the general people of Zimbabwe (not the military junta supporters and paid internet trolls who denigrate any dissenters), this is good news  because there is now a possibility for people using their collective power to correct the mistake they made.  This can only be achieved by sending a clear message through the ballot box to deny these political opportunists and miscreants the power and legitimacy they so desperately yearn for.

These people may have duped and manipulated their way to power, but in the end, it is Zimbabweans who wield the ultimate power to reclaim back their nation now that their political eyes are wide-open.

For those who may try to conflate the two for political expediency as is becoming the norm, calling out and criticizing the usurpers of power and their ILLEGITIMATE military dictatorship is not “bad-mouthing the country” as purported.  If anything, the illegitimate military dictatorship is not the same as the country hence exposing the former is necessary for Zimbabwean to understand the lies they are being fed.

The illegitimate military dictatorship may try to sanitize the coup but Zimbabweans are now politically-aware that they were duped.

The Lacoste cabal may have fooled us once but one is too many.  Who knows, maybe this time next year, Zimbabweans everywhere will be celebrating a Merry Christmas and looking forward to a Happy New Year after ‘We The People’ have finally retaken and restored power back to civilian rule that came about through the might of the ballot box.
