In a defiant refusal, The White House in its response to the Democrat-led Judiciary Committee blasted the impeachment inquiry process set for Monday as “completely baseless” and a “reckless abuse of power”, stating that they would not partake in the impeachment proceedings.

In a scathing response to Jerry Nadler, White House Counsel Pat Cipollone  attacked the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry, in a very brief two paragraph letter.

“As you know, your impeachment inquiry is completely baseless and has violated basic principles of due process and fundamental fairness,” continued Cipollone.

“Nevertheless, the Speaker of the House yesterday ordered House Democrats to proceed with Articles of Impeachment before your Committee has heard a single shred of evidence.

“House Democrats have wasted enough of America’s time with this charade.  You should end this inquiry now and not waste even more time with additional hearings,” read the letter addressed to Nadler (D-NY).

“Adopting articles of impeachment would be a reckless abuse of power by House Democrats, and would constitute the most unjust, highly partisan, and unconstitutional attempt at impeachment in our Nation’s history.”

Although the letter did not equivocally state that The White House would not participate, a senior official when asked stated that, “The letter communicates that we will not participate in this process.”

He went on to further elaborate that they “don’t see any reason to participate”  in a process they perceive as “unfair.”

The White House has referred to the entire process as a “sham” and a “witch-hunt.
