President Mugabe is expected to make a live address to the nation after his ruling party Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU) Patriotic Front (PF) removed him from his position as Secretary and President of the party on Sunday.
He has also been forced to resign as the President of Zimbabwe by Monday morning 1000 GMT or face impeachment.
The coup plotters who now dominate the party and suspected to be aligned with the sacked Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa also voted to reinstate and name him the new interim party leader.

Emmerson Mnangagwa locally known as ‘The Crocodile’ because of his patience and ruthless tactics, was fired by President Mugabe on November 6.
The 93-year old leader known to be a shrewd politician is still the Head of State of Zimbabwe. A very stubborn man, he remains defiant amidst calls for him to step down as President by coup plotters after they used the military to seize power last Tuesday on November 14.

In his opening statement at the ZANU (PF) Central Committee meeting on Sunday morning, Obert Mpofu stated that this would be a “historic meeting” that will “mark a new era” not just for the country “but for the party.” The resolution to remove President Mugabe was cheered by party members.
The forceful removal from his own party has also led to growing pressure and from the opposition and all the anti-Mugabe forces for him to step down and resign from his position as the President of the Republic Zimbabwe.
Robert Mugabe’s term was set to end in a few months at the same time as the new Presidential Elections were set to take place sometime in April 2018.
The military seized power on Tuesday and issued a live statement which was broadcast live on the national broadcaster, the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) on November 14, 2017.
