One Dead, 19 Injured After Clashes During “Unite The Right” Rally in Charlottesville, Virginia

At least one person has died and 19 injured on Saturday after a car intentionally plowed into a group of protesters during a Unite The Right rally by White Nationalists in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The vehicle ploughed into a crowd of people who were gathered in a street two blocks from the park.  According to the Charlottesville Police Department’s Facebook page, multiple people were injured in the incident, with two treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The rally, which was supposed to be a protest against a planned removal of the historic statue of a Confederate general Robert E. Lee from a public park in Charlottesville turned into chaos after clashes broke out between White Nationalists and the Alt-Left Antifa counter-protestors most of whom were bused from out of state.

The violence prompted state governor Terry McAuliffe to declare a state of emergency and halt the said removal of General Lee’s statue from a public park which has since been rename Emancipation Park.

“I am broken that a life has been lost here,” declared Charlottesville Mayor, Mike Singer on Twitter then urged “all people of goodwill” to “go home.”

Tensions were already high after counter-protesters comprising of many anti-White, Alt-Left groups like like Antifa and Black Lives Matter crashed the rally leading to confrontations.

“We’re closely following the terrible events unfolding in Charlottesville, Virginia,” President Trump said at a news conference.  “We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides.”

Plans by local authorities to remove statues commemorating the Confederacy have been met with great opposition from pro-Nationalist groups who gathered on Friday evening at the University of Virginia campus to protest and express their displeasure.  The group disbanded after they were ordered to do so by local law enforcement authorities.

Charlottesville’s City Council overwhelmingly voted in April to remove the statue of a Confederate General,  Robert E. Lee, from a public park which they have since renamed Emancipation Park.  The move by the largely Democratic Council to rebrand the city away from Confederate history has been criticized by many who accuse the city of trying to erase history.

The suspected driver of the vehicle is now in custody.

It remains unclear whether this incident is connected to earlier confrontations with the Alt-Left counter-protestors who clashed the Unite The Right rally.

What was supposed to be a protest against the removal of an over 100 year-old statue of General Robert E. Lee turned out to be a violent and deadly occasion after Alt-Left protesters clashed the rally.

While mainstream media is focusing on White Nationalists, nothing has been said about paid anti-White protesters bused in from out of state like Antifa, Black Lives Matters.

White Nationalists militia came fully armed and prepared in the event of violence breaking out or worse as depicted in this image below.

Alt-Left protestors are know for their violent tendencies and shutting down any rally or gathering their view as holding opposing views to theirs outnumbered the Unite The Right rally protestors.
