President Trump kicked off Veterans Day on Monday morning by attending the 100th Veterans Day Parade in New York City, making him the first sitting U.S. President ever, to attend the event.
The Parade which commemorates the 100th anniversary of General John Pershing and his men who paraded through the streets of New York in 1919 after returning from World War I is now celebrated each year.
Nicknamed ‘America’s Parade, the annual event which took place from 12:00 to 3:00 pm featured 30 thousand veterans and 400 military units who marched along 5th Avenue to Central Park in honour of those who have served in wars past and those who are still in service.

Addressing the veterans during a speech at Madison Square Park prior to the beginning of the parade, President Trump who is known to be the first civilian President who is pro-military, pointed out how those revered veterans who “risked everything” for the nation, now deserved to be served and protected.
This is the first time that a sitting U.S. President has not only accepted the invitation but was also spoke at the event . The parade was organized by the United War Veterans Council in Madison Square Park in New York City.
