It’s now down to the wire to the hotly contested U.S. mid-term elections slated for Tuesday November 6.  Both parties, the  Republicans (GOP) and Democrats are riling up their bases in the remaining hours right to the very last minute for what is considered the most important mid-term election in U.S. electoral history.

What this election is all about is the balance of power and who will hold or wield it either in both or one of the Houses of the Senate and Congress. At the moment, President Trump and the GOP control both Houses with 240-195 seats in Congress and 51-49 in the Senate.

Although it is indicted as if Democrats hold 49 seats in the House, they actually hold only 47 seats with 2 seat belonging to Independents they often align themselves with.

With the GOP controlling 240 seats over 195, Democrats need to pick up 23 seats to retake the House or Congress and need to retake only only 2 seats in order to control the Senate.

On Early Voting still on-going across the country, reports coming out indicate that Republicans are so far outpacing Democrats in key states like Texas, Tennessee, Montana and Indiana among others. An overwhelming 43 million have already cast their ballots in the early voting period with over 5 million in Florida alone.

Control of the House is very much in play with the Democrats’ predicted “Blue Wave” nowhere to be seen or, at least waned.

On the other side, the GOP’s “Red Wall” appears stronger and getting much stronger with each rally that President Trump is holding in each major state deemed important in the race as he closes the campaign.

The choices couldn’t be more defined or stark as each side appears certain that it has the momentum on its side.

It’s All About Messaging….

A brilliant campaigner and known master of branding and framing,  President Trump has framed the crucial midterm to be about three key issues that the electorate cares about: immigration, economy and Kavanaugh.

Immigration has become even more important because of multiple Central American migrants caravans and the threat they pose to border and national security; the economy because it is surging and Justice Kavanaugh because of the rule of law and due process under threat from Democrats and the left.

Despite media spin and calling Trump a “racist” and “bigot” for highlighting the caravan issue, Birthright Citizenship and border security,  voters know that immigration is inherently important to national security.

It’s not the same for Democrats

Without a leader and a therefore a relevant message, Democrats find themselves with incoherent, different messages.

What Democrats are hoping for is that their resistance to Trump will be enough to rile and drive their base to the polls.

Trump has also successfully branded Democrats as the party of disorder and lawlessness that wants to abolish ICE – the country’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE); a party that supports open borders and migrants caravans.

He has branded the Democrats as the party that supports everything that is against America and Americans.

In framing the Democrats as the party of the mob by the mob, President Trump has made this  election a choice between: law and order by the GOP versus  disorder and lawlessness by the Democrats mob.

Faced with such a stark choice, it is unsurprising to note that the polls remain tightly close despite a predicted, albeit non-existent “Blue Wave” by the usual Washington elite media and its punditry class.

Whatever the outcome, Americans are riled up and are ready to cast their ballots to once again shock the world, probably much bigger this time around than they did 2 years ago during the Presidential Election when they overwhelmingly elected now President Trump into office in 2016.

It is down to the wire.  The   world is watching to see if America is ready to shock the world once again.
