BERLIN – First daughter Ivanka Trump is in Berlin as part of a panel on the G20 Women’s Summit on the invitation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The Chancellor invited Ivanka during her trip to Washington last month.
Ivanka who travelled with her husband Jared Kushner was part of a panel discussing women entrepreneurship alongside German Chancellor Ms. Merkel and IMF Chief Christine Lagarde. The event is part of the G20 women ‘summit.
The 35-year old first daughter is known for her advocacy on Issues of women empowerment both professionally and personally. She has made chosen take up and champion these issues in her father’s administration.
At one stage, a groan was heard when the soft-spoken Ivanka Trump was forced to defend her father, calling him a “tremendous champion of supporting families and enabling them to thrive.”
She proceeded to say, “I’ve certainly heard the criticism from the media and that has been perpetuated” indicating she did not recognize the person who was being described as her father and neither would “thousands of women he had employed over the years.
“He encouraged me and enabled me to thrive. I grew up in a house where there was no barriers to what I could accomplish,” she added.
Although Ivanka Trump’s position in her father’s administration remains unclear, she and her husband Jared Kushner are seen as two very powerful and influential individuals when it comes to the President.
The local newspaper Berliner Zeitung said local officials hope “the President’s daughter will convey a positive image of Germany to her father as a result of her short visit.”
Ivanka has worked alongside her father from the moment she graduated cum laude from her father’s alma mater, the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania. She has a broad business profile which includes modelling, project management, an executive at the Trump Organization as well as a successful entrepreneur in her own right.
She is also an advocate for women empowerment both on a personal and professional level, a cause she has advanced for years prior to her father becoming President. She is seen as a positive influence on women and young women.
