At this stage, it is clear that rather than bring the country together in unity, the usurper Emmerson Mnangagwa and his imposed, illegitimate military dictatorship are engaged in a targeted systematic purging of political opponents, critics and dissenters through unlawful arrests and detentions, torture, threats, intimidation, harassments, violence and as of late, using trumped up charges of corruption and abuse of office among others.
While those involved in the systematic and methodical purging exercise may deny the occurrence of any such politically-motivated targeted operation, the list of targets so far proves otherwise.
Topping the list are two prominent, now exiled former Ministers who survived a brazen political assassination at their homes by military henchmen of coup-plotters Mnangagwa and General Constantino Chiwenga on 15 November 2017.
Since their escape and because they are now witnesses to an attempted political assassination crime, Professor Jonathan Moyo (Higher &Tertiary Education; Science & Technology Development) and Saviour Kasukuwere (Hospitality & Tourism; Local Govt, Rural Devpt ) are at the crosshairs of Mnangagwa who recently vowed to enlist the assistance of Interpol to “hunt down” the two and have them extradited back to Zimbabwe, assuming they will be brought back alive.
Watching the desperation of the politically-insecure Mnangagwa trying to find and silence victims of his failed assassination plot is unprecedented.
However, what is even more disturbing is the role by a seemingly politicized, biased and partisan local media as willing collaborators to tarnish and destroy these men and other victims in a bid to advance Mnangagwa’s narrative that his political opponents and dissenters are criminals.
In the spirit of accountability to expose the ongoing methodical purging under the guise of tackling corruption, we have compiled a list of known victims of the vindictive and politically-insecure Gukurahundists pair, Mnangagwa and Chiwenga, whose type of politics is causing political consternation in a once peaceful country.
This type of petty politics driven by vengeance and retribution against perceived enemies of the status quo must be resisted at all cost by sane Zimbabweans regardless of political affiliation.
The non-exhaustive list includes victims of politically-motivated arrests and unlawful detentions, torture, intimidation, trumped-up charges as well as violence. Within it are individuals who are now exiled, were fired, expelled, humiliated, arrested, tortured and attacked, either due to their political affiliation or having different political views.
It is without doubt that most of the targeted victims are members of the Generation 40 (G40) faction of the now dead ZANU (PF) party or anyone thought to be have been associated with them.
We urge every Zimbabwean with access to alternative media or involved in the dissemination of news on Zimbabwe to maintain this list and to add to it new names of new victims – politicians and non-politicians – as they become available and their identities known.
We also invite each and every patriotic Zimbabwean to become an activist in their own right, in their own special way and in their own backyard, to fight, expose and resist this imposed military dictatorship now running Zimbabwe after the unconstitutional usurpation of power.
Below is a list of at least known targets who have either been unlawfully arrested and detained, targeted for assassinations, and were either tortured or publicly humiliated before being finally fired. If is also important to point out that the focus of this non-exhaustive list is not on the nature of accusations or alleged crimes but rather on the targets and the timing. The optics are always important.
