African leaders do not want to be on the wrong side of President Donald Trump who by all indications is winning and gaining traction in popularity both domestically and internationally despite all odds stacked against him.
Neither should they allow themselves to be dragged into American dirty partisan politics and be used by the Democrats’ Resist Trump movement and their mainstream media partners in a vicious campaign to smear, discredit and destroy a President who was elected freely and fairly in an open electoral process with the world as the observing audience.
With the “shitstorm” saga over an alleged “s***hole” comment already discredited in the U.S. as a malicious fabrication by a Democrat Senator with a known penchant for lying, the onus to destroy and humiliate President Trump has been placed on Africans to carry out on a global stage in Davos.
In the just ended World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, African leaders had been expected to stage a mass walk out in protest over the discredited “s***hole” comment as soon as President Trump went to the podium to address delegates. That did not happen with the exception of only two.
The rejection by the continent’s leaders to humiliate President Trump on a global stage totally discredited the much-touted mainstream media narrative that “Africans” who “hate” a “racist” Trump were going to express their displeasure in Davos by walking out en-masse.
African leaders had been put in a position and global spotlight whereby they were supposed to carry the water for the left’s Resist Trump movement.
Rather than a protest walkout on President Trump, what emerged from the much watched global economic forum were images of Rwandese President Paul Kagame and the U.S. President with their respective delegates in a bilateral meeting, the optics of which did not go down well in the U.S. with Democrats and their resistance movement.
“Shitstorm” Saga

The “shitstorm” saga which is all but now forgotten, was a well-executed anti-Trump propaganda started by Democrat Senator Dick Durbin who managed to fool the whole world and the global media into believing a fabricated lie about an alleged “shithole” comment which never even happened.
The propaganda began after President Trump won a PR coup when he successfully presided over a LIVE broadcast bipartisan Immigration discussion at the White House, and which was attended by close to two dozen Democrats and GOP lawmakers.
What people saw in that open meeting was a sane President who did not appear “crazy” or “mentally unstable” in any form but a man who was in full control, not only of his mental faculties but of the meeting as well.
What Americans and the whole world saw was a different individual than the one who had been conjured up by the Trump-hating mainstream media, an extension and propaganda wing of the Democrat party.
Optics is everything in American politics. Obviously, the visual optics of a President Trump hosting a round table discussion, appearing sane, engaging and getting along with everyone including Democrats, did not bode well with the leftist Resist Trump movement and their media allies.
That wasn’t the “crazy”, “unstable” and an erratic Trump they had conjured up.
Under pressure to come up with something to discredit President Trump and reverse the positive image of a sane Trump in control of his faculties, the “shitstorm” saga was therefore conjured two days later.
“Shithole” Comment
By the end of the week, it had become clear to everyone including an acknowledgement by some Trump-hating media networks in the U.S. that President Trump did not use the term “shithole” to refer to either Haiti or any other country as alleged.
In fact, even Dick Durbin himself under pressure ended up unsure of what he had initially heard.
Instead, it was proven that the discredited Democrat Senator Dick Durbin who is also a known habitual liar had fabricated the whole “shithole” comment saga to brand Trump a “racist” after a successful bipartisan Immigration roundtable discussion.
Of the six people who attended a follow-up closed door meeting on Immigration including President Trump, Senator Dick Durbin was the sole Democrat who also happened to be the only person to allege he heard the remarks.
This was not his first gross misrepresentation of what happened in a closed door White House Meeting.
In 2013, the Democrat Senator from Illinois also mischaracterized a White House meeting with Barack Obama and Republicans where he falsely accused a GOP lawmaker of saying to Obama, “I cannot even stand to look at you.”
This was later denied by then White House Press Secretary Jay Carney who said “It didn’t occur” and accused Dick Durbin of fabricating the issue.
It is within this context that African leaders must tread with caution and refrain from partaking in foreign political issues they have no clarity on particularly in a highly polarized political environment like the United States where everything is fairgame.
They should also reject being used in high-charged partisan politics like in this instance.
The recent decision by Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission Moussa Faki Mahmat urging the continent’s leaders not to be silent on the discredited “shithole” saga is misguided and should be challenged.
Rather than for African countries and their leadership to be dictated upon by an obviously failing institution that is quickly losing relevance, each member state should instead think of its own self-interest and make rationale decisions.
If African leaders are condemning President Trump over a manufactured propaganda political hit-job, then the question is, where was their outrage in 2016 when Barack Obama used a similar term and called Libya a “shit show”?
