In a historic, bold move that is a dramatic shift from his predecessors, President Trump announced on Wednesday that the United States is officially recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.  He then ordered plans to move the U.S. Embassy that is currently in Tel Aviv to 3000-year old ancient city of Jerusalem.

“It is is time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.  It also is the right thing to do,” said Trump from the White House.

The recognition is a campaign promise to the religious Conservatives and Evangelicals who are his strongest, largest and staunchest of supporters, a promise that has been routinely broken by previous presidents including Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

In a single day with a single statement, President Trump has  made history and forever changed the trajectory of discussion on the Middle East moving forward.
