Former Fox News host Eric Bolling confirmed Saturday that his 19-year-old son, Eric Chase Bolling, died on Friday hours after Fox News had severed ties with the television personality. out of the network. Eric Chase was the only child of Bolling and his wife Adrienne. The cause of death is still unclear.
Bolling first tweeted the news of his son’s death on Friday saying,
“Adrienne and I are devastated by the loss of our beloved son Eric Chase last night. Details still unclear. Thoughts, prayers appreciated.”
He later followed with a second tweet which said, “Authorities have informed us there is no sign of self harm at this point. Autopsy will be next week. Please respect our grieving period.”
Members of the media were quick to send messages of condolences to the man they has spent the last few weeks disparaging. Erich Bolling’s former colleagues at Fox News also send their condolences including Sean Hannity, a prime-time host at the network.
The tragic death of the Bollings’ only child came just hours after Fox News announced the network was severing ties with Eric Bolling who had served as a contributor on many FNC shows and Fox Business for a decade.
He had recently become co-host of the new show’ “The Specialists” on weekdays at 5:00 pm Eastern Time.
TMZ reported on Saturday afternoon that Eric Chase died from an apparent overdose claiming that the young Eric had been having a hard time dealing with the trouble his dad was having at the network.
Sources close to the tabloid say he was “emotionally upset” with what was happening to his father.
Eric Bolling had been suspended from FNC before finally severing ties with him over unproven sexual assault allegations by unnamed sources accusing the conservative host of sending lewd text pictures. The network launched an investigation into the matter last month and suspended him before finally parting ways with the host on Friday.
On Friday, Fox News confirmed in a statement that The Specialists will be canceled indicating that, “Eric Bolling and Fox have agreed to part ways amicably. We thank Eric for his ten years of service to our loyal viewers and wish him the best of luck.”
Bolling had worked at Fox News and Fox Business since 2007, co-hosting panel shows The Five and The Specialists, and also guest-hosted for Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity.
A spokesperson for the network in response to the tragic news just hours after dismissing his father said, “We are very saddened to hear of the passing of Eric Bolling’s son. Eric Chase was a wonderful young man and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Bolling family.”
Bolling has denied the allegations and has maintained his innocence. He has since launched a counter lawsuit suing the author and freelance journalist Yashar Ali for defamation.
